Cuttlefish Casting Workshop // Saturday 20th October // 12 – 3pm
Handcraft your own pewter keyring or pendant using traditional metalwork skills. Join Ella on her award winning pewtersmithing workshop where we will use the unusual natural material of cuttlefish to create a mould before pouring molten pewter, a shiny metal, to reveal your design. We will then finish our keyrings or pendants with jewellery tools and techniques before you proudly take them home. Ella will guide you through the process from start to finish and provide lots of design inspiration. The class is suitable for beginners, budding creatives and those who’ve previously tried silver or jewellery making.
Ella has been a pewtersmith for six years having initially trained as a Silversmith at Buckinghamshire University. She returned to Clitheroe and set up her practice before basing her studio at Manchester Craft and Design Centre where you can visit her studio 6 days a week. Ella handcrafts her contemporary pewter table and home ware using traditional metalwork techniques and processes which have been handed down through generations of makers. Through her popular workshop programme Give it a Bash! Ella enjoys sharing her passion for pewter and was delighted to be awarded a Creative and Cultural Skills Award in 2018 as well as having her work recognised by the Worshipful Company of Pewterers.
