Aaron Dunleavy: Community Clothing Film
As part of the British Textile Biennial, Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery are showing a new film collaboration between award winning film maker, Aaron Dunleavy and designer Patrick Grant’s social enterprise Community Clothing, uncovering the lives of Blackburn’s textile factory workers from Cookson and Clegg and the lives of their families.
Aaron Dunleavy is a filmmaker from Blackburn. His debut student short, Throw Me to the Dogs, won 10 awards on the festival circuit, with praise from Academy Award winning director, Danny Boyle, screening at some of the most prestigious BAFTA and Oscar® qualifying festivals around the world.
This piece is part of the first British Textile Biennial which aims to throw a spotlight on the nation’s creativity, innovation and expression in textiles against the backdrop of the impressive infrastructure of the cotton industry in Pennine Lancashire.
