Collecting Faces: Portraits at Blackburn Museum
This free exhibition explores the portrait collections at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery, from ancient times to the late 20th century.
The displays include oil paintings of home-grown heroes and dignitaries rarely on display to the general public. The exhibition showcases photographs of Blackburn traders taken in the 1970s and 1980s by artist and photographer Christopher John Ball. Lovingly created family albums from the 1800s also feature as well as the oldest portrait in the collection.
Activities include sketching a self-portrait and the opportunity to strike a pose and share a selfie with us.
