Homegrown/Homespun Exhibition – British Textile Biennial 2021

Homegrown/Homespun is a ground-breaking regenerative fashion project in collaboration with designer Patrick Grant, his social enterprise Community Clothing and North West England Fibreshed.

Over Spring and Summer 2021 we turned unused land in the town into a field of flax and woad. The flax has now been harvested and retted and will be spun into thread which will be woven live during this years Biennial to create the first Homegrown/Homespun garment in Patrick Grant’s Community Clothing line, in collaboration with North West England Fibreshed.

This exhibition in Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery will illustrate the process and the project with live weaving taking place 6 – 8th October.
