Talbot Then and Now
Talbot Then and Now is a Blackburn College curated exhibition showcasing images of Blackburn and Darwen past and present, starting from 1958 to 2023. The students have paired five images from the Wally and Howard Talbot Photographic Collection with contemporary images taken in collaboration with Blackburn University Centre, BA (Hons) Photography and Moving Image students, beautifully highlighting the progress of the changes made over the years in Blackburn and Darwen.
The Wally and Howard Talbot Photographic Collection forms a wonderful archive of local life that will increase in value as a vital piece of social documentary photography in a regional and national context. The staff and students at Blackburn College are key for helping protect and promote the heritage of Blackburn with Darwen by digitising this collection and securing its existence for future generations to enjoy.
