Special Events Weeks

Special events weeks are very popular as they give pupils and teachers the opportunity to immerse themselves in stimulating, hands-on activities. There are special events weeks at both Blackburn Museum and Turton Tower covering Victorian Christmas and Science Week.

Victorian Christmas

Monday 11th, Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th December

Let your pupils step back in time to explore the simpler pleasures of a Victorian Christmas. The half day sessions for a few days each December are spent learning about Christmas in the ‘Old Days’ through a range of different, fun activities. Pupils will meet various Victorian Characters including Cook and a real Victorian Father Christmas. They will also take away a Victorian treat for the Christmas Tree! Suitable for KS1 and lower KS2.

Charges:Cost £4.70 per pupil (accompanying adults free)

Please note that because Turton Tower is a Grade I listed building some parts of the building may not be accessible to people with restricted mobility.  If you have any concerns please discuss them with staff before you make your booking.

British Science Week 2024

11 – 15 March 2024

To celebrate British Science week we have a week of science themed half day sessions inspired by our collections.
